VEX Robotics team take on London

On Saturday the NUAST VEX Robotics IQ team took part in a regional competition at Queen Elizabeth's School in Barnet, London.

Over 30 teams competed from around the city to take home the Teamwork Challenge trophy and gain a place at the National Finals next year.

NUAST took four teams to the event and placed third. Well done to all those that were involved!

This was the second event in the space of a week that the Year 8 and 9 students had entered a regional event, with the previous one being in Coventry on Monday. All teams had made big improvements to their robots since that event.

The VEX Robotics Competition sees teams design, build and program robots to take part in a challenge. This year the teams have to build a robot that can throw balls in to a hopper and hang from a bar.

Mr Wood, Head of Computing commented: "Students have made huge improvements to their robots since the last competition and in such a short space of time. It is great to see their enthusiasm and commitment to robotics and how well they work as a team."

The next competition will take place at NUAST in January.
