Computer Science students achieve Distinctions in Perse Coding Challenge

The results of the Perse Coding Team Challenge were released today and a number of NUAST students achieved Distinction and Merit grades.

Over 30 students from across all 7-11 year groups took part in this annual programming challenge before school started.

Of the 30 that took part, five students were awarded Distinction and are therefore eligible to take part in Round 2. Another four students achieved a Merit.

Round 2 of the competition will take place between the dates of 14th - 25th March 2022.

Students worked in pairs or alone to solve a number of programming challenges. Teams could choose from a range of programming languages for their solutions although Python was a popular choice.

Mr Wood, Head of Computing commented: "Well done to all those involved in the Perse Competition this year and a special congratulations to those that have qualified for Round 2."

The Perse Challenge is part of a calendar of programming events for secondary age students called UKCT Challenges, which includes the Bebras challenge that students entered earlier in the year. The challenges eventually lead up to the British Informatics Olympiad. More information about the challenge pathway can be found here: https://ukctchallenges.org/

Well done to all those involved.
