Women in STEM Event - Rolls Royce

On Wednesday March 8th, in celebration of International Womens Day, our industry partner Rolls Royce are hosting ‘Women in STEM Night’ from 6pm- 9pm

Professor Aradhana Mehra (Head of Research Centre, Head of Conservation, Biology and Ecosystems, College of Life and Natural Sciences, University of Derby), Will host an information evening to inspire girls (age 14+) about interesting, rewarding and exciting careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths.

Families, teachers, mentors and anyone interested in careers in STEM areas are welcome to attend.

This motivational event will showcase an engaging group of six successful locally based women, who will enlighten and entertain us with short, snappy ‘best bits’ presentations about their varied career journeys, and work life balance.

Charlotte Tolley - Current undergraduate student, College of Engineering, University of Derby

Suzanne Smith - Managing Director, Soteria Asbestos Ltd

Julie Speakman - Medical Physicist working in the Nuclear Medicine department at the Royal Derby Hospital

Lizzie Pincome - Materials Engineer, Rolls Royce

Heidi Sowter - Reader in Oncology, College of Life and Natural Sciences, University of Derby

Josie Morrissey - Environmental Manager, Cement Industry

The presentations will be followed by coffee and an opportunity to put questions to the speakers, and gain advice from them.

NUAST will transport any students that are interested in attending the event. Letters will be sent home this week.
